We are the broken generation. We are the silent generation; the ones that feel but can’t quite put it into words. We are the lonesome generation; amidst the social networks and smart phones, we’re isolated and cold. We are the reckless generation. We are the hopeless romantics that don’t even know what romance is anymore. There’s no mystery. We long for something real but can’t get away from pictures on the computer screen. We are the independent generation; that does everything alone. We yearn and ache for love, the kind that only exists in fairy tales, but are quickly learning that if it does exist, it’s only for the lucky ones. We long for simple times, and hopeless romantics and the perfect job with the imperfectly perfect companion with the world at our fingertips. Reality seeps through our fingers and we feel stuck and grounded when we were meant to fly. We are the generation that can love a person who lives thousands of miles away just as much as the person we see every day. Distance doesn’t matter as much as substance. Other generations may have given up on us, and we might not have any clue who we are or what we’re made of, but we have the potential to be extraordinary.
